OH Governor John Kasich just signed into law a bill that would make the Ohio Sales Tax Holiday for Back-To-School items permanent.
This means that the Ohio Sales Tax Holiday in August would be here and we would not need to wait year-to-year to see if the three day tax free weekend in OH is coming.
Ohio’s Back To School Tax Free Weekend has been going on for the past three years(2014-2017) and has saved tax payers $75 each on school supplies worth up to $20 per item. Full details here: Ohio Tax Free Weekend 2018.
The state expects to lose $16.3 million a year on the holiday while local governments and libraries will likely forgo $600,000 a year and transit authorities will lose $4.1 million a year in tax revenues, according to the Legislative Service Commission analysis.
