Georgia sales tax holiday for energy efficient products begins today
Georgia residents looking to purchase energy efficient appliances can take advantage of an upcoming Georgia sales tax holiday.
The holiday for WaterSense and ENERGY STAR labeled products begins Sept. 30th and ends Oct. 2nd, 2016, according to the Atlanta Regional Commission. Georgia sales tax holiday 2016 items list below.
“Products bearing the WaterSense or ENERGY STAR label and a price of $1,500 or less per item, purchased for noncommercial home or personal use, will be exempt from state and local sales taxes,” ARC says.
“We use more water in our homes than anywhere else, and purchasing WaterSense products is a great way to demonstrate that we are serious about conserving water in metro Atlanta,” Dallas, Ga. Mayor Boyd Austin, chair of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, said in a press release. “WaterSense-labeled toilets, showerheads, faucets, irrigation controllers and other products are 20 percent more water-efficient and perform as well as or better than standard models.”
He added, “Since 2000, the Atlanta region has reduced per capita water usage by 30 percent. This significant reduction is due in large part to households replacing older, inefficient fixtures with high-efficiency models.”
ARC says that replacing a shower heads and toilets with a WaterSense labeled shower head can save thousands of gallons of water each year.
